(St. Petersburg, Florida — August 14, 2008) Freedom Scientific today released their newest version of the SARA scanning and reading appliance, including numerous enhancements that make the reading experience more enjoyable for both blind and low vision users.
“SARA 9.0 now features built-in braille support, making the SARA a dynamic reading solution for blind and deaf-blind users,” said Dusty Voorhees, Senior Product Manager. “Just connect a portable braille display — such as a Focus or PAC Mate™ Braille Display — to the SARA’s USB and any scanned document can be read in braille.
“Low vision users have long appreciated that they can connect the SARA to a monitor for large print access that complements the speech. SARA 9.0 adds new features that let these users control how information is both displayed and read, including 35 new text and background color combinations and options to customize how words are highlighted on the screen as they are spoken.
